I was asked to sing at my niece's wedding last weekend, and discovered that I don't really like many of the standard songs for weddings. So, in collaboration with my wife (also a composer), I wrote a new wedding song, "You Will Feel No Rain", to an anonymous Native American text. We performed it at the wedding (I sang, my wife played). I think it suited the occasion nicely.
I also completed the score of a short (ca. 11 minutes) opera for soprano, baritone, and piano. Called "Catechism", it is a conversation between two robots who are trying to re-create human beings from DNA samples after some calamity has wiped us out.
